Quick! I said something Brilliant!
Pull out your notepad: I'm about ready to say something really insightful! Ahh, too late, I can't remember what it was... So maybe I can't capture everything on the fly, but I am getting better about paying attention and especially paying attention just before a project gets underway. When the sponsors start free chatting between themselves or when one of their peers joins up late, I'll often hear a casual summation of why we're all gathered together, and that short, idiomatic summation will not infrequently be better than the formal one that is presented to the group five minutes later. Three sentences is probably all that I will scribble down from my ready pencil, but boy, I will use that summary over-and-over in my own words whenever I'm trying to bring others into the moment of the project. That was three sentences in the previous paragraph...really, I don't mind if you jot something down...
